Welcome to the Cottage on the
Lake. Here you'll find an atmosphere that's ideal for a family
gathering, romantic get-away, fishing trip, club activity, corporate
off-site, or just treating oneself to its peaceful surroundings.
With 180 feet of lake frontage in a natural growth forest, the cottage
grounds are all about nature's charm. On the shore of Lake Ontario
in Youngstown, NY, USA, it's located two miles East of the mouth of the
Niagara River. Toronto and the Canadian skyline are visible 30
miles away across the lake..., and whether you're an early riser or a
night-owl matters not, because the sun both rises and sets on the water,
all that matters is which way you're facing in the hammock.
The cottage consists of a
single (main) room measuring 20' x 20' with a peak ceiling and an attached
(indoor) bathroom with shower.
-
Bathroom has:
-
toilet, sink, shower
-
storage/pump room with:
-
ironing board
-
vacuum cleaner
-
Cottage grounds: the cottage is in a tall, natural growth
forest, the trees reach for the clouds here! On the grounds
there's a 40 foot-wide clearing between the cottage and the lake,
where you'll find:
-
a picnic table
-
a hammock by the lake
(note: the hammock was stolen, and will be replaced in 2014)
-
a fire pit (note: we're
planning to have the fire pit totally re-designed and replaced in
2014)
-
horseshoes and poles
-
an assortment of chairs
-
Two Mile Creek flows through the property
-
the sun both rises and sets on the water, and with the lake on
the North side of the grounds, you'll not find a better place to
view the Northern Lights!!!
-
The lake:
-
there's a path that provides access to the beach. There's
currently not much beach (0-6 feet) due to the lake's high water level.
However, there is enough room to hang-out on the rocks and let the waves
wash your feet. There is also a seawall about 100' out (1-2 feet
underwater) that you can swim to.
-
Fishing: the fishing is known to be excellent on the lake and the
Niagara River, we receive out-of-state guests that come for the fishing
alone. Among the types of fish caught are Coho Salmon, King
Salmon, Lake Trout and Brown Trout.
